Raja Ampat Yachtcharters Voyages is a private chartering operator running 7 to 12 day phinisi and motor yacht expeditions departing Sorong through Wayag, Misool, Dampier Strait, and Mansuar with full dive, snorkel, and remote-island programs. We move small groups of divers, photographers, and exploration-minded travellers across the four pillars of the Raja Ampat archipelago without the schedule constraints of joining-berth liveaboard tour operators.
Every itinerary is built around your guest list, dive certification level, and the seasonal current windows that gate the best sites between October and April in the south and May and September in the north. The team running the operation has been chartering across eastern Indonesia since 2014, with cumulative coverage across more than 900 guest weeks aboard phinisi and motor platforms in Raja Ampat, Komodo, Banda, and Triton Bay. We are dive-led rather than tour-led — the program is built around the underwater experience first, with surface activities, photography blocks, cultural interactions, and rest curated around the dive plan rather than the other way round.

Routes & Coverage
Three signature routes anchor the program, each tunable across 7, 10, and 12 day windows. The Northern Loop runs Sorong to Dampier Strait to Mansuar to Wayag and back, best between May and September. The Southern Loop covers Sorong to Misool to Boo Windows to Daram to Fiabacet, best between October and April. The Combined 12 Day operates in shoulder windows of late April and late September, catching both manta peaks when currents cooperate.
Custom Off-Calendar itineraries add Cendrawasih Bay for whale shark encounters or Triton Bay for epaulette walking sharks and deep soft coral, requiring 4 to 6 months lead time for the additional permits. Optional Waisai and Misool airstrip transitions can compress travel time on shorter charters. All departures coordinate through Sorong with flight connections from Jakarta or Bali.
Booking Process
The booking process follows five straightforward phases. First, send your guest count, certification mix, dietary notes, and target departure window — we reply with two vessel options inside one business day, full quotes including marine park fees and recommended ground transfers, and a draft itinerary tuned to the seasonal window you have selected. Second, we tune the route to your group profile and seasonal current windows. Third, a 30% deposit secures the vessel and locks your dates.
From deposit to departure, we handle pre-departure briefing, gear list, dietary collection, and flight coordination from Jakarta or Bali to Sorong. A full briefing packet is issued 14 days before departure. Peak windows of November to March in the south and June to August in the north book out 12 to 18 months in advance for luxury phinisi and motor tiers, so early enquiry is strongly recommended.
Common Questions
A private charter inverts every constraint a joining-berth imposes. You set dive counts, surface intervals, and entry style. The vessel, crew, and guides answer only to your group. For photographers, waiting 45 minutes after joining-berth boats have left at Magic Mountain is what produces the portfolio frames.
We accommodate all levels from Open Water upward. Advanced certification is recommended for deeper Misool reefs and Boo Windows. Solo dive procedures are available for self-reliant certified divers with redundant gas, computer, and SMB. Rebreather divers should provide unit serial, last service date, and sorb spec at booking.
Standard plan is three boat dives plus an optional dusk or night dive, all with current briefing, surface support, and tender pickup. Tank pressures are signed off by the chief divemaster before each departure. Nitrox is available on the luxury and motor tiers.
Peak windows of November–March (south) and June–August (north) book out 12–18 months in advance for the luxury phinisi and motor tiers. Entry phinisi typically holds availability inside 90 days. We require a 30% reservation deposit at booking and the balance 60 days before departure.
Roughly 30% of charter guests are non-divers. A parallel program of snorkel drops, kayak launches, beach explorations, and Wayag karst hikes runs alongside the dive program. Children 8+ can do PADI Bubblemaker; children 12+ can pursue PADI Open Water with a 4-day intensive at charter start.
Every vessel carries Indonesian charter classification, certified life rafts, marine-grade VHF and HF radios, satellite emergency beacon, basic medical kit with oxygen, and a defibrillator (luxury and motor tiers). We require every diver to carry active DAN Asia-Pacific or equivalent dive accident insurance.
